Ah, I see you want to know more about me. Well, you’re in the right place then. Who doesn’t see a blue dinosaur and ask themselves, Who is that gal with the red floof and the horns? I’m just loving life and drawing pictures for a community that has embraced me, allowed me to express my true self fully, and continues to support me in ways I can’t even begin to thank them for. But you’re here for the story, ain’t ya? Well, let me tell you how it all began…
Pencils, crayons, pens, you name it! I’ve always drawn! Some of my earliest memories are of drawing, because I just loved to do it. But I wasn’t exactly good at it to begin with. Who is though, am I right? Fast forward to graduating high school and starting university, where I found the actual studying very unsatisfying. Maybe I’m just not the academic type and prefer to learn through doing. But I got through the course and graduated with my degree, only to then apply to hundreds of jobs in the city.
It came out of nowhere, like an old friend showing up out the blue (Ha, Blue! Get it?). After working a couple of small jobs, I rediscovered the art bug! (Let’s call him, Carl) Carl, the Art Bug was suddenly alive and jumping! We had so much fun drawing and creating, I found myself even starting to take commissions. After about 6 months though, the dreaded COVID arrived.
But, I looked at Carl and said, “wait… this could be an opportunity in disguise! Let’s go… FULL TIME!”. I never looked back. An incredible journey started and I have since gotten serious with my art! With unbridled inspiration from some of the greats in the community like Miss Kimmy and BabyStar, I felt empowered and motivated, inspired even, to look up to what they had achieved and work towards bettering myself. It’s a pleasure to stand here before you now with the love in my heart for Art, Storytelling, Fun, and of course let’s not forget… Carl, The Art Bug.
